National Junior League Day 3 - 21 January 2023

Cippenham's three teams in the National Junior League were in action again on Saturday in the third day of this four-day season-long competition. All four teams retained their places in their respective divisions by finishing either second or third in the four-team format.

Cippenham A, in Division 2, were one of the teams that finished second. The scored wins against Bourne End JSC A 7-2, with George Driscoll named player of the match, and Kidlington Forum 5-4. However, they lost out to Chiltern A 3-6. Nick Carter and George Driscoll both won two-thirds of their matches while Louis Alexander won half of his and Edward Meacock two out of his six.

Cippenham B came third in Division 4, beating Chiltern C 7-2 but recording defeats against Ashford D 4-5 and Graham Spicer B 3-6. Charlie Cook won all three of his individual matches against Ashford and was consequently named player of the match despite being on the losing side. Charlie won six of his eight matches overall on the day. Samuel Wolfenden won half of his matches and that included a player of the match performance against Chiltern. Ankush Srinivas won one of his eight encounters.

The C team won one match, against Ashford E 6-3 but lost the other two against Guildford B 4-5 and Bourne End JSC B 1-8.  The team was made up of the three Prasanna Kumar brothers and it was Bharath who played the leading role, gaining the player of the match award in a losing cause against Guildford. Overall, Bharath won six out of nine while Sai won three and Arjun two.

Cippenham D elevated themselves to second place in Division 6, gaining victories along the way against Ashford F 8-1 and Chiltern E 7-2. The one loss was a big one, 1-8 against divisional leaders Chiltern D. Aryan Sharma and Aarav Seth both picked up player of the match awards and, with Reeyan Sharma, all finished with averages in the sixties. Victor Harrit also won one of his five matches.
