National Cadet League Day 1 - 5 November 2023

The new season of the National Cadet League got underway at Cippenham on Sunday with two teams representing the host club.

Cippenham A were placed in Division 1 and finished the day in second place having won two and lost one of their three matches. The B team were in Division 5 and finished in third place having won one and lost two matches.

Bharath Prasanna Kumar was the star of the show for Cippenham A with an unblemished record of having won all of his nine matches. Only once was Bharath extended to a fifth and deciding game and that was against bottom team Kingfisher A. Against division leaders Graham Spicer A, Bharath won all his matches 3-1 while against the same club's B team his matches were all concluded three-straight. Bharath was ably supported by his younger brother Sai who won five of his nine matches, including a player of the match performance against Kingfisher. Needless to add, the other two player of the match awards both went to Bharath. Unfortunately, the third Cippenham player, Aarav Seth, was unable to add to the team's score throughout the day.

The Cippenham B team comprised three debutants, all making their first ever appearance for a Cippenham team. Over the day's play, Daniel Brazil did well to win six of his nine matches and he was supported by Christopher Farrall with five wins to his credit and Yaseen Abdelbary with two. Daniel was player of the match in his team's 6-3 victory over CGS Blacks.
