National Cadet League Day 2 - 27 November 2022

The National Cadet league is now at the half-way stage of the season. Day 2 was completed at Cippenham on Sunday and proved quite successful for the three host teams.

After finishing in second place on day one, the Cippenham A team this time managed to top Division 2 and will now take their place amongst the elite four teams next time around. Louis Alexander's presence in the team was the telling factor as Louis won seven of his nine matches and was named player of the match in the 7-2 victory against Crusaders. Samuel Wolfenden had an identical overall record and was also named as player of the match against Bourne End B who were beaten 8-1. Bharath Prasanna Kumar was the third  member of the victorious team, winning six of his nine matches. The other match resulted in a 5-4 win against Kidlington Forum A despite three wins for the opponents' number one, Chi Yin Henry Fung, who remained undefeated all day.

Cippenham B finished second in Division 4 with two 7-2 victories and one 3-6 defeat. Their successes came against Ashford C, against whom Aryan Sharma was player of the match, and against Kidlington Forum B when the player of the match was Aarav Seth. The solitary loss came against divisional winners Kingfisher D. Aarav finished with seven wins from nine, Aryan one less and Oskar Belniak won four times.

The outstanding individual performance of the day came from 8-years old Sai Prasanna Kumar, surely a star of the future. Sai won all nine of his matches and collected three player of the match awards for his performances for Cippenham C. His team, though, despite Sai's brilliance, could finish only second in Division 5. Aairah Hussain won four of her six matches while Antoremsy Luckshanth and Ahyan Hussain won one each. The team won two matches, 7-2 against Bourne End Junior Sports Club D and 5-4 against Kidlington Forum C. The other match resulted in a 3-6 defeat against Kingfisher C.
