Constitution and Management:

Cippenham Table Tennis Club is a non-profit making members' club managed by a committee of eight people who give their time freely. In January 2009 it became registered with HM Revenue and Customs as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). There is also a limited liability company, Cippenham Table Tennis Centre Limited, controlled by a Board of Directors that comprises some of the Management Committee of the Club and representatives from The Westgate School. This company has the legal responsibility for the upkeep of the building.

Membership:

Since moving into its own purpose built facility in October 1996, membership of the Club grew from 60 to over 200. Amongst the membership are international players, county and representative players, local league players, recreational players and family members of players. Members are all ages, from the cradle to octogenarian.

Activities:

The Club offers a wide range of activities:

  • competitive match play in British leagues, regional and local leagues;

  • tournament play at the Centre and away from the Centre;

  • specialized high quality coaching;

  • practice facilities;

  • social events.

Facilities:

In October 1996 the Club opened its own purpose built/designed Cippenham Table Tennis Centre, widely recognized today as one of the best table tennis centres in England. Sited within the grounds of The Westgate School, the Centre is used exclusively for table tennis outside of school hours.

Accreditation:

Cippenham Table Tennis Club was an accredited ETTA Excellence PremierClub until its resignation from the programme in 2014 and achieved Sport England Clubmark status. In both 1996 and 1997 the Club received the accolade of the English Table Tennis Association Club of the Year and was runner-up in the ETTA PremierClub Excellence Club of the Year in 2001 and 2003. Locally the Club was also Slough Borough Council's Junior Club of the Year for 1997 and 1999, Community Club of the Year for 1998, 2000 and 2002 and Senior Club of the Year in 2003. The Club's Head Coach, Ken Phillips, was named as ETTA Male Coach of the Year for both 1999 and 2000 and received even greater recognition with a Sport England Coach of the Year award in 2001 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Get Berkshire Active in 2018.  Another of the Club's coaching staff, Sue Hayes, also received the ETTA Female Coach of the Year Award in 2001 and 2008 as did Jan Chapman in 2007 while Stephanie Mitchell won ETTA Young Coach of the Year in 2008. Jacquie Lovell (2004), Jan Chapman (2006) and Graham Trimming (2007) have all been the ETTA PremierClub Volunteer of the Year while Catherine Hayes and Stephanie Mitchell were ETTA Young Volunteer of the Year in 2006 and 2007 respectively while Graham also picked up Press Office of the Year in 2008. Both Ken Phillips and Club Secretary Graham Trimming (twice) have been honoured for Service to Sport at the Mayor of Slough's Annual Sports Awards while Graham  and Ken received further recognition when elected as Vice-Presidents of the Table Tennis England in 2008 and 2017 respectively.
