New Ping Pong Parlour opens in Slough - 25 July 2018

Club members first to use the tables

A new Ping Pong Parlour has been set up in the Queensmere Shopping Centre in Slough. This is part of a nationwide initiative by Table Tennis England to bring table tennis to the people, where they already are. A similar parlour was established in Maidenhead last year and is still going strong.

The Slough parlour has been established in an empty retail unit next to H&M and only yards from Debenhams. This should attract a good footfall and it is hoped that many passers-by will pop in and have a game. Bats and balls are provided and use is entirely free of charge.

Cippenham TTC was invited by the management of the shopping centre to send along some members for first go on the tables. And so it was that Sue Hayes, Keith Hall, Elroy Hull and Graham Trimming met there at the opening time on Wednesday and hit the first balls. Take-up of passers-by was slow at first but within little more than an hour the place was buzzing with all three tables in use.

Seeing this as a great marketing opportunity, the Club left leaflets and posters at the parlour all directing people who had enjoyed the ping pong to come along to Cippenham and taste proper table tennis!
