Maidenhead & DTTA AGM - 14 May 2019

Trophies awarded to successful Cippenham teams

At the conclusion of another very successful season for Cippenham in the Maidenhead League, trophies were presented to the winners at the Association's Annual General Meeting. Cippenham teams won both the league divisions they contested and also won the Knock-Out Handicap Competition for a clean sweep.

The Cippenham Saxons team comprised captain Ashley Shaw, along with his brother Oli (who was not present for the photograph above),  plus Albert Cheung, Ricky Hardcastle and Graham Trimming. This was a successful defence of the title that Saxons also won the previous year and brings the Club's record to a total on nine titles, six of them having been won back in the 1980's and three in the current decade. The margin of success was a comfortable 26 points ahead of runners-up Bovingdon Green Kestrels. The Shaw brothers, who came second and third in the division's leading averages missed out on the Wilkinson Sword for the best average only through not playing the required number of matches.

Completing the double of divisional successes were the Cippenham Trojans team of captain Harry Coles, Chris Clifford, Keith Hall and Sue Hayes (not present for the photo). Trojans margin of success was 14 points ahead of runners-up Old Gords Harriers. Chris, with 86%, was second in the division's averages.

Cippenham Titans team of Walter Aldridge, Lucie Bouron and Akeel Mir completed the treble for Cippenham by winning the Knock-Out Handicap Competition, beating OLOP Bears 7-2 in the final.

Congratulations to all three successful teams!
