Maidenhead Closed Championships - 8/9 February 2020

Maciej regains his Maidenhead title

Maciej Dlugozima, a member of the champions elect Cippenham Trojans team, was the most successful player when the Maidenhead and District Table Tennis Association held its annual championships at Cippenham over the weekend. Maciej, or "Magic" as he is widely known, won the blue riband event, the Men's Singles, for the second time having previously won in 2018. Maciej also won the Tweenies' Singles, an event for players between junior and veterans ages. Runners-up in both events were Maciej's teammates: Hari Prasad in the Men's Singles and Ricky Hardcastle in the Tweenies'. However, the tables were turned when Ricky got the better of Maciej in the Division One Singles.

Ricky added a second title when winning the Mixed Doubles with Lucie Bouron and Hari Prasad got his reward when teaming up with Bruce Smeath to win the Men's Doubles. In the final they beat Smeath's NWCA teammates Dave Hyder and Elroy Hull.

Keith Hall beat Walter Aldridge in an all-Cippenham Division Two Singles final while Alex Zubrenkov only just failed to make it a clean sweep for Cippenham in the divisional event when he lost 15-13 in the fifth to Rajin Soni in the Division Three Singles. Keith Hall also won the Drawn Doubles, partnering Mike Collins in the final against Walter Aldridge and David Tant.

Two of the consolation events were also won by Cippenham players: Hari Prasad in the Tweenies' Singles and Akeel Mir in the Veterans' Singles.
