Pointless weekend

Cippenham’s season of woe in British league competitions continues. The veterans, who had been the most successful of the Club’s teams thus far this season in the first weekend, with four points out of ten, failed to add to those points in the second weekend at Doncaster and slipped into fifth place and potential relegation from Division 1B.

Like every other team in the division at the weekend, Cippenham lost 6-0 to champions Norton Nomads. Otherwise there were two defeats by 4-2 and another two by 5-1. Against bottom team Ulster Annahilt, Roger Hookey and Paul Baker both beat Norman Nabney while against Tameside Paul beat Paul Collins and then Roger had a good win against Wayne Percival to make the score 2-2 and give Cippenham hope.

Charlie Childs beat Martin Smith in the 5-1 defeat by Bribar Fusion and Paul beat Ian Attridge in the match against BATTS Bulldogs but it proved a disappointing winless weekend for Mike Rhodes.
